Anke brings almost 20 years of experience as a product designer to her role at TalkingPoints. One of her greatest joys and motivators has been creating products and services that make an actual difference in people’s lives. Anke has always been surrounded by educators and is most excited when helping companies and nonprofits in the education sector. Anke originally studied photography in Berlin before moving to California. In San Francisco she honed her design skills at SFSU Multimedia Studies Program long before UX design was even a profession.

As a former teacher, Ariadna witnessed the struggles families in the US faced when their home world language was not English. After she moved on to become a District Translator in one of the nation’s most diverse school districts, she advocated for parents and students, created resources and provided professional development to teachers and administrators on translation technologies to bridge the communication gap.
Ariadna has 18 years of experience as a professional translator, editor and proofreader with over 15 translated books that have been published. She holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Universidad del Valle de México, and speaks 4 languages.

Chris is passionate about bringing people together across language barriers. As a parent who changed school districts during the Covid pandemic, he has seen firsthand the importance of establishing communication between schools and families, and the trust that follows when this level of communication is maintained.
Chris has an M.A. in Translation (Spanish > English) from Kent State University. A linguist by training, he began his career in localization operations before moving on to implementing machine translation solutions and ultimately transitioning into product management. In his role on the Product team at TalkingPoints, he brings together this unique skill set to focus on quality and breadth of translation, ensuring successful communication and better outcomes for students and their families.

As a first-generation college go-er, Claudine personally experienced how invaluable education can be. As a parent and community member, Claudine believes that parents, regardless of their own backgrounds, can be tremendous champions in their children’s educational success.
Claudine has worked in technology her entire career, primarily focused on consumer digital media, in business development, product and general management roles. More recently, Claudine has turned to building technology for social good, supporting nonprofit education organizations. Claudine studied information technology at University of Virginia and has an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Business.

Dimetri graduated from Rutgers University with a double major in Political Science and Spanish Linguistics and later earned his master’s degree from the University of North Carolina Charlotte in Foreign Language Education. He is a Fulbright scholar and had the opportunity to teach English at a Brazilian university before teaching high school Spanish in Charlotte, NC and Camden, NJ.

As our lead AI software engineer, Guillermo works on improving our machine translations and natural language processing capabilities. He is a first generation college graduate and has a degree in Computer Science at Republic University in Uruguay with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing.

She has spent most of her career in digital marketing, including nearly a decade working in the nonprofit education sector to advance the adoption of effective school practices and help parents understand and use education data. She also served as chief of staff to a special advisor to the Secretary of Education in the UK. As a consultant at McKinsey, she advised the Gates Foundation and Teach First UK. Heejae is graduate of Oxford, LSE and has an MBA from Stanford Business School where she was an Arjay Miller Scholar, and has been recognized as an Echoing Green Fellow, Stanford Social Innovation Fellow, Ashoka Changemaker and Forbes 30 under 30 to change education.

At a young age, Ivan’s mother, a middle school ESL teacher, instilled in him the value of education. Since then, he has viewed academics as a means for social advancement, and worked to include others in that vision. During college, he served as director of Young Men’s Circle, Pomona College’s only youth mentorship program, and founded an annual scholarship for the mentees. At TalkingPoints, he supports educators on a national scale.
Ivan earned a bachelor of arts in international relations and Middle Eastern studies from Pomona College before serving as a Fulbright English teacher in Rabat, Morocco. He is an Arabic speaker and is fascinated by intercultural communication.

She brings nearly a decade of development experience in education, family engagement, and, most recently, the language industry, supporting the growth of a variety of entities reaching immigrant, refugee, and global communities.
Kara graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish & Journalism from New York University and received a Master of Arts in International & Intercultural Communication with a concentration in human rights and migration from the University of Denver.

Kate has over 20 years experience in education. She taught secondary math for 15 years in Iowa, Oregon, Texas, and Minnesota along with about 10 years of experience working at the district level in curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional development and MTSS. Her most recent role prior to moving to ed tech was as Director of Secondary Ed for Minneapolis Public Schools. She spent almost 6 years supporting districts in leveraging ed tech solutions to support equitable outcomes for students, prior to joining TalkingPoints.
At TalkingPoints Kate leads the Partner Success team in supporting school and district partners to ensure they are able to leverage the TalkingPoints solution with impact. Kate earned her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and worked with the developers of an equity-based Learning Supports model developed out of the UCLA School Mental Health Project. She is driven to ensure schools move toward an equity-focused, asset-based approach for all students.

Prior to joining TalkingPoints, Kevin was a research scientist at the Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research. Kevin has published over 20 studies in a variety of peer-reviewed education journals.

Lauren is dedicated to driving impact and social change by working at the intersection of technology and social service – she is excited to bring that focus to TalkingPoints. For over 20 years, Lauren held product development leadership positions in both nonprofit and for-profit organizations. She led the expansion of a resource information and referral platform that supports under-represented communities and led the development of online products in higher education STEM disciplines that are in use by millions of students around the world.
An experienced mentor and coach, Lauren co-founded a cross-functional mentor group and donates her time to different organizations. Earlier in her career, Lauren lived in Asia and those experiences of living in dramatically different cultures continue to influence her work and perspective. Lauren graduated from Haverford College in Pennsylvania with a degree in English Literature and Women’s Studies.

Pablo is passionate about using his technology background to improve education. Pablo studied Biochemistry at the Science University of Uruguay and computer science in the private sector. His academic work included combining biology and programming as a bioinformatician, and he tried to find key genes that help combat diseases caused by parasites, like Toxoplasmosis.
In addition to his academic work, he has worked as a game developer in several educational and children-oriented projects. Pablo joined TalkingPoints to collaborate on the development of the web and mobile apps, working on adding new features and improving the experience and accessibility for parents and teachers alike.

Tyler Coats is the CEO of Falcon Critical Care Transport, a $20m revenue business employing over 250 personnel in the SF Bay Area. Formerly Tyler was the Managing Partner of Cascadian Capital. Tyler also served in the US Navy aboard the USS Henry M. Jackson, a strategic nuclear submarine, where he led over 70 personnel with overall responsibility for the operation of the nuclear reactor as Head Engineering Officer and Officer of the Deck. Tyler has an MBA from Stanford GSB and has a B.S. in Quantitative Economics and Applied Mathematics from the United States Naval Academy.

Bob is the chief executive officer of Chiefs for Change, and previously served as superintendent of Broward County Public Schools – the sixth-largest district in the United States. Under his leadership, Chiefs for Change has increased its technical assistance for members and expanded leadership development initiatives to build the pipeline of diverse, talented educators ready to lead K-12 systems. His professional experience also includes founding a management and technology consulting company and holding several strategic leadership positions with Chicago Public Schools. He became the first in his family to finish high school and graduate from college, earning his bachelor’s from Harvard College and MBA from Northwestern University.

After a long career at McGraw-Hill Education that included roles in sales, marketing, education policy and general management, Jeff formed EdSolutions, LLC in 2015 as a vehicle for focusing education innovation, investment and philanthropy on underserved students, scaling proven innovations to reach the students who will benefit most from them. Today, EdSolutions help organizations to find impact through the markets for education goods and services primarily via: Ecosystem Maps, Target Product Profiles, Go-to Market Strategies and other customized consulting services.
Jeff holds a baccalaureate degree in Government from Harvard University. He has served as a director of the Association of Educational Publishers, the Association of American Publishers- Education Division, the Software and Information Industry Association, The Harlem Educational Activities Fund, UnBoundEd Learning, New Meridian, LaborX, Yenko and Allhere. Jeff currently lives in New York City with his wife, Sahily Artiles, a naturalized American citizen and certified Spanish/English court interpreter.

Greg Gunn

Greg Gunn
Greg Gunn is a leader in using technology, innovation, and venture capital investing to promote progress in education. As co-founder of Lingo Ventures, he makes early-stage investments in education and workforce technologies. In 2000, Greg co-founded Wireless Generation (now called Amplify), a leading educational software company serving millions of students annually with groundbreaking assessment and instruction products. Greg is the board chair of the Nellie Mae Education Foundation and a director of Education Leaders of Color, FHI 360, Bridgespan, Zearn, and City Year.
Greg Gunn will contribute his expertise in product innovation and scaling tech organizations to support our growth and market strategies.

Kumar Garg

Kumar Garg
Kumar is a passionate champion of education reform and started his career working on behalf of parents and children as an education lawyer and advocate. Kumar led the Obama Administration’s efforts to bolster federal STEM education initiatives, and led Schmidt Futures, working with Eric Schmidt to design and launch moonshot initiatives in education, provided early support to game-changing ideas and pioneers, while building ongoing multi-donor and multi-sector collaboratives. Kumar is currently president of Renaissance Philanthropy, an advising firm that surfaces breakthrough ideas and incubates ambitious initiatives. He received a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and a law degree from Yale Law School.
Kumar Garg is an expert in education and technology and brings a wealth of experience in research, development, and government partnerships. His guidance will strengthen our ability to innovate and collaborate across sectors.

Dr. Karen L. Mapp

Dr. Karen L. Mapp
Dr. Mapp is a leading expert in the field of family engagement, and her 2010 book, Beyond the Bake Sale: The Essential Guide to Family-School Partnerships, is considered a foundational text in the field. She created the Dual Capacity-Building Framework for Family-School Partnerships, the research and practitioner framework that TalkingPoints bases itself on and has advised the U.S. Department of Education and multiple states and school districts on family engagement. She is currently the senior lecturer on education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) and faculty director of Harvard’s Education Policy and Management Master’s Program.
Dr. Mapp will play a vital role in helping us develop a research-driven standard for excellence in family-school partnerships.

Dr. Sharon Contreras

Dr. Sharon Contreras
Dr. Contreras is passionate about providing a high-quality education to each child. She is a teacher at heart, a transformational leader and a passionate advocate for children and education. Growing up in Uniondale, New York, with nine brothers and sisters, she learned early to advocate for her right to an excellent education. Over the course of her 30-year education career, she has been the first woman of color to lead one of New York’s “Big 5” school systems in Syracuse, and the first woman and Latina to lead Guilford County Schools in North Carolina. She holds multiple degrees including: a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis and a Master of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; a Master of Arts, English Literature; a Master of Arts in Teaching and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
Dr. Sharon Contreras, CEO of the Innovation Project, joins us with unparalleled experience as a public education leader and a passionate advocate for children. Her insights will help shape our market strategies and ensure our work aligns with the needs of educators and families.
